Oct. 8, 2007 -- A joint venture between Earth Tech and Morrison Construction (ETM), a Yorkshire-based engineering company, is celebrating after clinching two top awards from Yorkshire Water. ETM won two Yorkshire Water 'Partner Awards' at a ceremony held at the Royal Armouries Centre in Leeds. The awards recognise partner organisations' that make the greatest contribution to community relations.
ETM won the Society award with their project called 'Storing Up Goodwill'. This saw them working together to create an outdoor wildlife classroom at St Peter's School in Rawdon. This space is used by pupils and has disabled access for children attending the school's inclusion unit. The team transformed an unused area of the school into a classroom by laying paving slabs, putting-up a new fence and adding tables and benches.
They were also joint winners of the Partners category for their entry entitled 'Mature Partnerships Promotes the Sharing of Ideas'. James Wood from Earth Tech, who collected the awards, said: "We're thrilled our work within the local community has been so successful. Receiving the awards recognises the hard work and teamwork of everyone involved in our community projects. We are passionate about working with local communities and will continue to implement further initiatives."
