ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 29, 2004 -- Engineering consultat firm CDM Inc. is part of the team that has been awarded a major U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) indefinite quantity contract for integrated water and coastal resources management.

The Development Alternatives International (DAI)-led consortium, which includes CDM, has been selected as one of the five holders of the Integrated Water and Coastal Resources Management indefinite quantity contract. The 5-year contract, with a ceiling of US$2 billion, supports a key strategic objective of the USAID Office of Natural Resources, Bureau for Economic Growth, Agriculture, and Trade--improved protection and sustainable use of natural resources, with special emphasis on increased conservation and sustainable use of freshwater and coastal resources.

To the DAI team, CDM brings significant leadership and more than 25 years of experience managing USAID global programs and delivering water and sanitation, water resources, environmental health, irrigation, agriculture, engineering services, and urban and rural infrastructure through multiple indefinite quantity contracts. On this project, CDM will provide assistance in municipal and industrial water supply, wastewater treatment and sanitation, non-point source pollution prevention, urban stormwater management, groundwater modeling, river basin modeling, water and wastewater utility management, watershed and river basin management and planning, water quality management and regulation, coastal management, coral reef protection, hydrology, and water-related infrastructure finance.
