White paper on non-revenue water

HomeServe USA, a provider of home repair service plans, has published What Lies Beneath the Surface, a white paper examining the challenges created by non-revenue water (NRW) and the solutions utilities and municipalities can implement to counteract its negative effects on water conservation and infrastructure. The white paper is authored by 30-year government relations veteran Vince Guenthner, founder of Vince Guenthner Inc. and former manager of government affairs at Kentucky-based Louisville Water Company.

Book and DVD set

The American Water Works Association has released the 2017 Let’s Talk Safety book and DVD set. Designed to make it easy for utility safety officers to communicate with employees about the critical importance of working safely, the materials remove the time and uncertainty that is often required when preparing safety presentations. The book provides 52 short briefings tailored specifically for water utility employees along with links to additional resources. Each briefing covers a single key topic. The DVD also contains the 52 weekly safety talks as a PDF on CD and includes 12 video clips on DVD to enhance one talk a month.

Val-Matic now has a new and completely redesigned website. The new website has been designed to provide a user-friendly experience with improved navigation and functionality throughout. The interactive and responsive website automatically adjusts to the type of device it is being viewed on. Val-Matic also added a blog featuring industry news and information. The website can now also be translated into 100+ different languages. According to Val-Matic, the redesigned website allows for a positive user experience with easy-to-find information.


New book

A new book titled Urban Water Security argues that cities need to transition from supply-side to demand-side management to achieve urban water security. The book, written by Robert C. Brears, provides readers with a series of in-depth case studies of leading developed cities, of differing climates, incomes and lifestyles from around the world, that have used demand management tools to modify the attitudes and behavior of water users in an attempt to achieve urban water security.
