HOUSTON, March 15, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ten North American communities and businesses have renewed or signed agreements with Veolia Water North America Operating Services, LLC (Veolia Water) for the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities or systems over the past several months. This new and renewed business adds nearly 35 years of contractual work for Veolia Water, the nation's leading water and wastewater services provider.

The company's renewed contracts include:
-- Five-year extensions with Crossville, Tenn., and Ft. Dodge, Iowa, for the management of wastewater services;
-- Three-year extensions with Palmetto, Fla., and St. Michael, Minn., for the management of wastewater services;
-- Three-year extension at an Alcoa industrial facility in Tennessee for wastewater treatment;
-- Two-year extension with Conroe, Texas, for the management of an industrial pretreatment program; and
-- Two-year extension in Hoover, Ala., for the management of wastewater services.

"Municipalities that enter into public-private partnerships for water and wastewater services and manufacturing companies that rely on external water treatment experts repeatedly demonstrate their satisfaction with their private-sector partner through contract renewals," said Joseph Burgess, president, Veolia Water North America.

"These contracts are the most recent examples of partners who are receiving benefits such as rate stability, cost savings, improved water quality and environmental compliance. Partnerships today mirror a community's or business's needs, with contracts structured to meet specific objectives for both long and short-term."

Additionally, two small communities in Northern Ontario, Canada -- Owen Sound and Georgian Bluffs -- have selected, for the first time, Veolia Water Canada as their water and wastewater services provider. Both contract terms are five-years with provisions for five-year extensions, and, together, they are valued at approximately $5 million. In addition to managing the water and wastewater systems, Veolia Water Canada will operate the pumping stations as well as automatic sampling and alarm equipment, which will require after-hours staffing coverage.

Veolia Water North America (www.veoliawaterna.com) is the leading provider of comprehensive water and wastewater services to municipal and industrial customers, providing services to approximately 14 million people in more than 600 communities. The company is part of Veolia Water, the No. 1 water company in the world serving more than 110 million customers. Veolia Water is the Water Division of Veolia Environment, the largest environmental services company in the world with more than 310,000 employees in about 80 countries and annual revenues of more than $36 billion.
