NASHVILLE, TN, Sept. 7, 2005 (PRNewswire) -- Management consulting and engineering firm R.W. Beck Inc. announces the promotion of Edward Wetzel to executive vice president of Water and Waste Resources (WWR).

Wetzel replaces Russell J. Stepp who will become the new president/CEO of R.W. Beck. Previously, he served as the East Coast director of WWR.

As executive vice president for WWR, Wetzel will be responsible for overseeing and broadening the sale and delivery of management consulting services to water and solid waste clients throughout the United States.

Wetzel says, "Leading R.W. Beck's WWR practice presents the opportunity to expand the group's traditional market offerings base and to continue to grow R.W. Beck's presence in the water and waste resources industry."

He has more than 25 years of experience in the water, wastewater and environmental industries providing utility acquisitions, systems planning, alternative project delivery and program management services to the public and private water sector.

Prior to joining R.W. Beck in May, Wetzel worked at MWH, Inc. in Denver, a global environmental and engineering firm, where he led strategic planning processes and provided business development support for the firm's global operations.

He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. Wetzel also holds a master's degree in civil and sanitary engineering, and a doctorate in sanitary engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. He is a registered professional engineer.
