OMAHA, NE, May 5, 2005 -- HDR, a leading architecture-engineering-consulting firm, has acquired the assets of Lawler, Matusky & Skelly Engineers LLP (LMS), an environmental engineering and science firm based in Pearl River, N.Y. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Going forward, LMS will conduct business as HDR/LMS and will combine its operations with HDR's offices in White Plains and New York, N.Y., and Trenton, N.J.

With the addition of LMS, HDR will now represent nearly 250 professionals in the metropolitan New York area. Business service areas will include environmental engineering and science, transportation, water and wastewater, power and energy, real estate development, economics, security, design-build and construction management. The acquisition is designed to complement the aggressive growth plans of both firms.

"LMS has a tremendous reputation for providing comprehensive environmental consulting, and we have enjoyed a good working relationship with them on previous projects," said George Little, president of HDR Engineering Inc. "We consider it a great compliment that they decided to become part of the HDR network."

Under the new corporate structure, Michael Skelly, LMS chief executive officer and Peter McGroddy, LMS chief operating officer, will be senior vice presidents.

"LMS had reached a point where our size would limit our ability to reach our true potential," said Skelly. "We needed a company like HDR that shares our values, is committed to our marketplace and offers good long-term career and investment opportunities for our employee-owners."

Founded in 1965, LMS is an environmental and science engineering firm with a reputation for providing comprehensive and responsive consulting services to clients. LMS employs 150 professionals, including engineers, consultants, scientists and planners. In addition to Pearl River, LMS has offices in Goshen, Nyack and Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Woodstock Ill., Ludington, Mich., and Allentown, Pa.

HDR (www.hdrinc.com) is an architectural, engineering, planning and consulting firm that excels at complex projects and solving challenges for clients. More than 4,000 employee-owners, including architects, engineers, consultants, scientists, planners and construction managers, in over 100 locations worldwide, pool their strengths to provide solutions beyond the scope of traditional A/E/C firms.
