Apr. 29, 2011 -- With the help of EPA funding, the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is addressing residential sewer backups, which occur during moderate to heavy rainfall.

The city is replacing undersized sanitary sewer pipe with larger diameter pipe. EPA awarded $485,000 to the city to ensure clean water systems and rehabilitated about 90 manholes.
