SALT LAKE CITY, UT, Nov. 11, 2010 -- The Great Salt Lake Minerals Corp., a fertilizer manufacturer in Utah, says it can cut its water needs for a planned expansion by more than half.
The company is seeking government approval to triple its production of organic potash by adding 117 square miles of solar evaporation ponds to the northwest arm of Great Salt Lake. It hopes its new plan to reduce its water requirements speeds up government approvals and satisfies environmentalists.
