Tetra Tech awarded new design-build, environmental data support work for General Motors -- PASADENA, CA, March 1, 2007 -- Tetra Tech Inc. announced today that it has been awarded two new contracts with General Motors (GM). Tetra Tech will provide environmental data management and regulatory reporting services over the next three years. Separately, Tetra Tech will also serve as the design-build manager for GM's nationwide Wastewater Treatment Asset Sustainment Program this year. The value of the new contracts was undisclosed.

The environmental contract covers more than 160 GM facilities in 25 countries worldwide. Tetra Tech will manage Material Safety Data Sheets for all facilities; collect environmental data; manage, host, and maintain GM's central environmental database; and complete environmental regulatory reports covering air, water, waste, and toxics. Tetra Tech will also provide outputs from the database to support GM's global environmental metrics reporting and sustainability initiatives.

The design-build program was awarded to Tetra Tech after the successful completion of a similar utility project last year. For more than 30 GM facilities nationwide, Tetra Tech will identify scope, procure equipment and contracts, and direct construction of improvements or develop scope for future wastewater sustainment projects. These improvements include tank rehabilitation, process improvements, and instrumentation and controls upgrades.

Southwest Water acquires Mississippi utility -- LOS ANGELES, March 1, 2007 -- Southwest Water Company today announced that it has purchased North Mississippi Utility Co. Inc. which is comprised of five water and wastewater systems that serve approximately 800 residents in Desoto County, a growing area just south of Memphis. The transaction augments its existing contract services operations in northern Mississippi and dovetails with a strategy of expanding into geographic markets with high population growth rates, said Mark A. San Diego unveils 1-megawatt solar system at city's Alvarado Water Treatment Plant -- San Diego nation's first city to deploy solar with no upfront cost; water plant is first site in city's plan to produce 5 megawatts of solar power -- SAN DIEGO, March 1, 2007 -- City of San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders today launched a new 1.135 megawatt solar power installation at San Diego's Alvarado Water Treatment Plant. The panels produce about 20 percent of the plant's power, with annual electricity savings estimated at $40,000. The Alvarado photovoltaic installation was built under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with SunEdison, North America's largest solar services company. Under the agreement, San Diego citizens benefit from clean, solar energy with no upfront cost, thereby avoiding an estimated $6.5 million in capital installation. SunEdison built, owns and will maintain the solar system. SunEdison will sell the solar energy to the City's Water Department at costs lower than SDG&E rates. The 1-megawatt water treatment plant site is the first of a multi-year solar deployment at city facilities that will eventually produce 5 megawatts of solar power and will become the largest municipal system in California, surpassing Google's planned 1.6 megawatt solar system in Mountain View, CA. Foster Wheeler receives full release on Longview Power Project -- HAMILTON, Bermuda, March 1, 2007 -- Foster Wheeler Ltd. announced today that a subsidiary within its Global Power Group has received a full release to proceed on its contract from Longview Power LLC for the design and supply of a supercritical once-through pulverized-coal (PC) steam generator for Longview's coal-fired generating facility located in Monongalia County, West Virginia. Longview is a 100 percent-owned subsidiary of GenPower Holdings, L.P., which is jointly owned by GenPower, LLC and First Reserve Corporation. The Longview plant will be one of the largest private investments in the history of West Virginia. Foster Wheeler announced the receipt of a limited notice to proceed on Jan. 30. This full notice to proceed authorizes Foster Wheeler to execute the entire scope of the project as defined by the contract. City of Helsingor, Denmark, joins Bentley's Municipal License Subscription Program -- Will use unlimited access to comprehensive GIS, engineering software portfolio for fixed annual fee based on population to enhance public services -- EXTON, PA, March 1, 2007 -- Bentley Systems Inc. today announced that the city of Helsingor, in the north of the Danish island of Sealand, has joined Bentley's Municipal License Subscription (MLS) program. Moyno Pumps deliver in offshore oil applications -- SPRINGFIELD, OH, Feb. 28, 2007 -- Moyno® progressing cavity pumps were recently purchased by an offshore oil service company that designs, builds and operates a fleet of ships to service the offshore drilling industry. The fleet delivers bulk drilling mud or other liquid materials to the drill site and removes used drilling mud to an onshore facility for recycling. Due to the amount of material transported each way, the ships are designed with very large holding tanks. A pumping system was needed to pump the liquid out of and into these sizable holding tanks.
