MACTEC wins contract with USDA Forest Service
KENNESAW, GA, Aug. 29, 2007 -- MACTEC Engineering & Consulting has been awarded a multi-million dollar, one-year plus four option year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract. The company will provide structural and geotechnical engineering services for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service, Southeastern Region (Region 8). The region includes 13 states and Puerto Rico. The USDA Forest Service, established in 1905, is a federal agency that manages public lands in national forest and grasslands. The Forest Service is also the largest forestry research organization worldwide and provides technical and financial assistance to state and private forestry agencies. There are currently 155 national forest and 20 grasslands totaling 193 million acres. FY 2008 annual budget is $4.13 billion.

PBSJ Foundation announces minority scholarships for 2007
TAMPA, FL, Aug. 27, 2007 -- In what has become an annual event, the PBSJ Foundation Inc. has partnered with universities around the country to provide scholarships for minority students. The scholarships, earmarked for those enrolled in university-level civil and environmental engineering programs, will be given to qualified students through a competitive process. Solvay Chemicals receives EPA registration for chlorine-free wastewater disinfectant
HOUSTON, TX, Aug. 2007 -- Solvay Chemicals Inc. has announced that it has received approval from the United States EPA for its chlorine-free disinfectant for wastewater. Widely used in Europe, PROXITANE® WW-12, is based on peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide and effectively controls bacteria in effluent prior to discharge. PROXITANE WW-12 decomposes into biodegradable components of water, oxygen and a small amount of acetic acid. The product does not create chlorinated compounds or harmful disinfection by-products in the environment.
