HOLLOMAN, New Mexico, Feb. 18, 2004 -- The Holloman Air Force Base Wastewater Treatment Facility, which is contract operated by Woodard & Curran, was awarded a 2003 Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Excellence Award by the State of New Mexico Environment Department Surface Water Quality Bureau.
The award was presented by the Facility Operations Section of the state agency during the New Mexico Water and Wastewater Association annual banquet and short school in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
This is the first year the award has been presented and it is designed to recognize facilities that demonstrate excellence in operations and maintenance based on periodic evaluations and inspections conducted by the New Mexico Environment Department.
Woodard & Curran has contract operated the Holloman Air Force Base Wastewater Treatment Facility for eight years. The activated sludge treatment facility is designed to treat up to 1.5 million gallons per day of waste from the air force base, which is home to the F-117 Stealth Fighter. The facility is staffed with three full-time operators.
