Bluewater Bio wins fourth phosphorus removal contract with Severn Trent Water

Dec. 21, 2018
FilterClear continues to gain market acceptance as an effective solution for low P consents.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE, UK, DEC 21, 2018 -- Bluewater Bio Limited, a leading provider of treatment solutions to the water industry, is pleased to announce that Severn Trent Water ("Severn Trent"), through its key capital delivery partner Costain/Stantec ("CiM6"), has selected the Company's high rate multi-media filtration technology, FilterClear, for the provision of a Tertiary Solids Removal (TSR) plant at Newent WWTW, Gloucestershire. BwB will provide a fully automated FilterClear 4v2340 tertiary solids removal plant which will be required to achieve a Total Phosphorus target of 0.64 mg/l. Newent WWTW is a medium sized works with a population equivalent (P.E.) of 17,500. Once completed, the FilterClear tertiary solids removal plant will be capable of treating in excess of 280 m3/hr, with the treated flow discharging into a nearby tributary of the River Severn.

BwB's scope will include design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the new TSR plant, with delivery scheduled for June2019. Using DfMA principles, installation, testing and commissioning on site will be less than one week. The contract marks the Company's third phosphorus removal scheme with Severn Trent – second with the CiM6 delivery alliance – during the calendar year.

Fergus Rooksby, Commercial Director of Bluewater Bio, commented: "We are delighted to be awarded our second contract with CiM6 to deliver our FilterClear TSR system at Severn Trent's Newent sewage works. With our installation at Codsall commissioned and producing outstanding results, and a further two installations at Harby and Brockhampton due to come online early next year, we firmly believe our technology is rapidly establishing itself as the go-to solution for low P consents across the UK. With what is our fourth contract with Severn Trent, in a relatively short timescale, and a healthy pipeline of similar opportunities across the UK, FilterClear is demonstrating its low whole life cost benefits in arduous low P applications and offering a robust future proof process solution. We look forward to working with the CiM6 and Severn Trent engineering teams in delivering this FilterClear project."

FilterClear is both a modular and scalable process, treating flows ranging from 2 L/s to in excess of 1,000 L/s. The technology has a proven track record across multiple applications, both domestically and internationally, having proven to be highly competitive when compared with mono and dual media and other filtration systems. As part of the Chemical Investigation Program (CIP), concluded in 2017, FilterClear was demonstrated to be one of the few technologies to be able to consistently meet the challenging TP target of 0.1 mg/l for this size of works.
