Oct. 8, 2015

San Francisco – October 7, 2015 – Industry-leading platform expands to help utilities optimize operations across all water users – WaterSmart Software, which provides a platform that helps utilities and their customers save money and water, today announced an expansion of their award-winning demand management solutions to all utility meter classes. Utilities now have an integrated view of water demand across all customers from single-family to multi-family to industrial.

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is seeking a visionary Executive Director. The District is an award-winning wastewater agency which has been a leader in protecting the Chicago area water environment for over a 120 years. WaterSmart’s expanded platform gives water utilities instant understanding of customers’ water-use patterns, aiding water balance reporting, pressure district leak prioritization, drought management compliance and many other critical utility operations. WaterSmart’s platform also helps utilities seamlessly deploy customer engagement programs over mobile, email, text and print.

“We’ve long been impressed by WaterSmart’s ability to continually offer new capabilities to make our customers’ water usage approachable and relevant,” said Nate Adams, water efficiency manager of Santa Margarita Water District. “We are excited to now be able to offer WaterSmart’s services to all of our customers – residential and non-residential alike.”

New features for WaterSmart’s utility platform include:

  • Universal Water Reports: These new reports are designed to provide insight into detailed water usage for every class of customer served by a water utility. The reports are customized based on the specific needs of each segment and include messaging modules to drive program adoption or communicate other critical utility needs to every customer.
  • Usage Tracking: Every utility customer can now track their water usage in the WaterSmart Customer Portal with access to seasonal trends, year-over-year usage, and consumption forecasts.
  • Analytics Across Meter Classes: Utilities can now see a consolidated overview of all customer consumption patterns in a unified, easy-to-use interface. This not only provides operational insights to managers, but also helps customer service representatives rapidly address questions on billing, consumption, leaks or other concerns from any customer.
  • Multi-Account Roll-up: Managers of multiple units, such as homeowners associations, office parks, or institutional campuses, can now see a roll-up of all property consumption data in a unified view. This aids in prioritizing investments in efficiency improvements based on the poorest performing properties.

“Our utility partners have been asking if we can bring our powerful analytics and engagement solutions to every customer, not just those in single-family homes,” said Robin Gilthorpe, CEO of WaterSmart Software. “We’ve listened carefully and are thrilled to introduce the ability to aggregate all meter class data into a unified platform. No meter is left behind as utilities gain greater control over their operations through valuable data insights and targeted customer outreach.”

WaterSmart has been commercially proven over the past five years and is currently in use by more than 40 water utilities throughout the United States from coast-to-coast. The company manages data from over two million water meters, which represent two percent of the total meters in the United States. The company recently delivered its two-millionth Home Water Report and has cumulatively saved over two billion gallons of water.
