Ozone control

Precise ozone treatment is assured using Pacific Ozone Technology's C250 Dissolved Ozone Process Controller. The dissolved ozone analyzer uses a programmable electrochemical monitor with direct sensing ozone probe to provide real time ozone concentration output to a microprocessor-based, single loop, fully-programmable PID controller. The PID controller sends a proportional signal to the ozone generator, controlling the ozone gas concentration delivered to the process from the ozone generator.

Chlorine dioxide generators

Vulcan Performance Chemicals has introduced the Millennium III chlorine dioxide generator product line. Based on patented eductor-driven technology, these new chlorine dioxide generation and delivery systems are simpler mechanically and state-of-the-art electronically. The series generators combine sodium chlorite with either chlorine gas or sodium hypochlorite to form high-purity aqueous solutions of chlorine dioxide. Chlorine dioxide is a powerful oxidant and disinfectant, is particularly useful as a tool for controlling trihalomethane and haloacetic acids formation, and is effective over a wide pH range against bacteria, cryptosporidium and giardia.

Polymer injectors

The DI150 Polymer Injector is Dosatron's most widely used chemical dispenser for municipal water applications. The injector has a water flow range of 0.05 to 11 gpm, and an adjustable chemical dispensing ratio of 1:100 to 1:20, or 1.0% to 5.0%. The injector proportionally and consistently delivers a homogeneous chemical blend through an internal mixing chamber, thus preventing the formation of chemical clumping deposits. The water-driven technology allows the injector to be placed in any area regardless of plant location or size, since it does not require electricity.

Acidic wastewater treatment

Dow's MHT® Magnesium Hydroxide is a stable, alkaline slurry used to neutralize acidic wastewater streams. End users typically find that MHT improves pH control and reduces sludge generation. Pound for pound, it has more neutralizing power and is easier to store and handle than most other alkalis. Control of pH is improved because the product reacts quickly at lower pH and slowly at higher pH, naturally helping to hit the desired pH target without excessive over-shoot. Sludge generation is reduced because precipitation of solids occurs at a slower, more controlled rate, producing a low volume, high density particulate sludge that is easier to dewater.

Biological treatment

Novozymes Biologicals has introduced new, patent-pending technology for grease removal. Targeting maintenance of municipal collection systems and improved degradation efficiency of wastes containing fats, oils, and greases (FOG), this technology features a new microbe that breaks down the most difficult-to-degrade components of grease, the long chain fatty acids. This new bacterial isolate, BioS 3112, also degrades the volatile fatty acids that cause malodors.

Metering pumps

Hydra-Cell Industrial Pumps has introduced its Slurry-Duty Metering Series Pumps. The pumps are available in three standard sizes, and provide consistent, virtually pulse-free metered flow at up to 37 gpm and 1200 psi. Flow remains linear throughout the pressure range. Their sealless design is ideal for use in pumping harsh abrasive slurries, shear sensitive fluids and clean corrosive chemicals, among others. The pumps use hydraulically balanced diaphragm technology, which allows higher speed operation and even higher turn down ratios. They are self-priming and can run dry without damage.
