A new addition to the 3M™ Dynatel™ Locators 2200M Series, the 2220M locator is designed to provide a simple and accurate solution to locate buried pipes, cables and Sondes in even the most challenging field conditions. The rugged, highly sensitive receiver uses two active trace frequencies and provides a bar graph, signal strength and direction indication to the pipe/cable. In addition, the receiver is designed to detect passive power and auxiliary frequencies that do not require the use of a transmitter. The 2220M locator is optimized for pipe locating with the addition of 82kHz.

Val-Matic’s Ener•G™ AWWA Resilient Seated Ball Valve is designed for surge control and energy savings. The valve fully complies with AWWA C507. It features the advantages of a standard fusion bonded epoxy interior and exterior coating and a bi-directional resilient Tri-Loc™ seating system. The seat retention system provides a low friction, wear resistant seat and allows easy adjustment or replacement of the seat without removing the valve from the line. When fully open the valve provides 100% flow area equal to the pipe size and will represent a significant savings in pumping costs compared to other pump control valves.

Peristaltic pump motor

Crouzet North America, a company of Custom Sensors & Technology (CST), has introduced the ultra-quiet Peristaltic Pump Gear Motor (PPGM) series designed for motorization of a wide range of peristaltic positive displacement pumps. Suitable uses include liquid transporting and dosing. Built to withstand the highly cyclical requirements of peristaltic pumps, the motor develops significant torque at a relatively low operating rate, ensuring long service life and silent operation. Specific pump requirements are translated into torque, speed and current to provide the exact motor response needed for the pump to provide the required flow rate and pressure for the specific application. The new PPGM is available in 16 and 30 watt models and features a gearbox torque of 0.5 Nm nominal and an operating voltage of 24V. The 16 watt version is also available with an operating voltage of 12 V.

Bulk metering

Elster AMCO Water recently introduced the evoQ4, a single metering system that can be used in place of all turbine, compound, single jet, or electromagnetic meter applications. The new meter is battery powered, lightweight and fully submersible. It is designed for any commercial or bulk metering application that requires a meter than can accurately measure water over a wide flow range. The meter is available with AWWA lay lengths in 2" to 8" sizes. Using Faraday’s law of Electromagnetic Induction, two magnets provide a magnetic field within the pipe that measures the flow of the conductive water. The meter can register at more than 95% accuracy at traditional compound meter low flows.

Integrated drive

seepex has released a new integrated drive for its MD and BW progressive cavity pumps. The drive integrates the pumps with a single reduction gear reducer, a four-pole, TEFC, inverter-rated ½ HP electric induction motor and a “vector” type, variable frequency drive in a NEMA 4 enclosure. External or special fabricated control enclosures are not required for high pressure or run dry protection, so installation is no more complicated than a typical home stereo. The pump and drive combination can cover a performance band of 0.08 gph to 4.7 gpm and pressures to 360 psi. The unit operates from standard 120 vAC, 15 amp circuits. The drive has an H-O-A switch with a 10-turn potentiometer for manual control and will accept a 4-20 mA process signal through a standard ½" UNF-connector.

Mineral removal

Procorp Enterprises has introduced a targeted mineral extraction pellet reactor system for water treatment facilities. The reactor system crystallizes calcium and magnesium salts into concentrated, self-dewatering, reusable pellets, and significantly lowers Total Dissolvable Solids (TDS). It also removes carbonates and sulfates, eliminates brine regeneration and wasted water, and prevents salinity and chloride issues common to other softening technologies. When coupled with an ion exchange system, the system extracts calcium hardness and reduces salt usage, wastewater and chloride discharge by up to 80%, while reducing overall costs.

Krohne has introduced its new Enviromag 2100 magnetic flowmeter, which is designed for common applications in the water and wastewater market. This new flow instrument has a measuring accuracy of up to 0.3%. It features the IFC 100 converter which offers an attractive price/performance ratio, including diagnostic capabilities not found in other basic converters. For installation flexibility, the IFC 100 is available with the converter mounted directly on the flow tube as a compact meter in two versions: for horizontal installations a 45º angled display is designed for optimal viewing, while vertical pipe installations may be equipped with a flat mounted version. Alternatively, a wall or pipe mounted converter can be mounted separately from the flow tube.

Battery tester

Natis Communications has released its new Smart Battery Tester. The device is an intelligent battery condition tester capable of being retrofitted into multiple types of equipment where knowledge of the condition of the local battery needs to be known to ensure their safe operation. By periodically imposing a load across the battery and measuring the recovered voltage, the tester can indicate a battery failure if the recovered voltage is below a set level. With this smart battery tester installed, utilities can fully automate battery monitoring from their SCADA centers. The testers are designed to interface with most battery back up systems and are installed in line between battery and battery charger. The unit has three SCADA output points that can be interfaced to an RTU.Natis Communications
