Ondeo Degremont recently won two multimillion dollar contracts for HTFB (High Temperature Fluid Bed) systems. Ondeo Degremont was issued a $6.8 million purchase order to design and furnish a HTFB system at the Puerto Nuevo Wastewater Treatment Plant in San Juan and a $9.6 million order that includes installation for the Ypsilanti (Michigan) Community Utilities Authority WWTP Expansion.
The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority and its consultant, TetraTech MPS, determined that incineration would be the most economic, efficient and environmentally friendly method for the city's biosolids disposal. After a thorough review of incineration technology, the authority decided to replace its aging multiple hearth incinerator with Ondeo Degremont's HTFB System.
Ypsilanti is expanding its capacity from 29 mgd to 46 mgd. The HTFP system will allow the authority to use available space while reducing odors and environmental emissions.
"We anticipate the fluidized bed unit will have 80% less emission than the multiple hearth unit," said Larry Thomas, the authority's director.
At the Puerto Nuevo WWTP, Ondeo Degremont's HTFB system will replace two multiple hearth incinerators when it becomes operational in 2004.
The Puerto Nuevo and Ypsilanti systems will each consist of a hot windbox HTFB, heat recovery, and air pollution control system. Both systems are similar in size to one supplied by Ondeo Degremont to the City of Cincinnati. That installation contains the largest hot windbox in the United States.
Since its first HTFB installation in 1985, Ondeo Degremont has provided 21 fluid bed incineration systems in North America, more than any other supplier. Ondeo Degremont is the Suez Environment subsidiary specializing in water and wastewater treatment plants.
With more than 3,000 employees working in over 70 countries, Ondeo Degremont had 2002 revenues in excess of $900 million.
