American Engineering Services (AES) has been awarded a $3.2 million dollar contract with Southmost Regional Water Authority (SRWA) in Texas. AES will supply a complete turnkey 6 mgd reverse osmosis water treatment system for SRWA.
The notice to proceed was issued on January 6, 2003, and water production is scheduled to begin fall of 2003. The Southmost RO plant will be the largest municipal brackish desalination plant operating in the state of Texas. Upon completion, the plant will supply high quality drinking water to numerous cities in the lower Texas valley region.
SRWA contracted NRS Engineering Consultants of Harlingen, TX, for the design, planning and supervision of the construction of the advanced water treatment plant. NRS engineers selected AES based on company qualifications and their low bid over five multi-billion dollar companies who also submitted bids to supply the RO system. AES will supply and install all chemical feed, pre-filtration, and post treatment, degasification equipment in addition to the three, 2 mgd reverse osmosis skids. The plant will be fully automated and able to communicate with other water plants within the SRWA's district.
AES is an international designer and builder of water and wastewater treatment systems focusing on high purity systems. The home base of AES has been Tampa, FL, since 1992 and all design and fabrication of AES desalination systems originate in Tampa.
