Network-based control system
Yokogawa Electric Corporation’s enhanced version of the STARDOM™ network-based control system includes a new E2 bus interface module that has been developed for use in FCN-500 autonomous controller extension units. This enables the construction of systems that have more I/O points and cover a wider area. The system consists of the FCN autonomous controller, the VDS web-based HMI, and the FAST/TOOLS™ SCADA package. The FCN-500 is a modular type controller. It consists of a control unit with a CPU module mounted on the unit’s base module. (An additional CPU module may be installed for dual redundancy.) Extension units that accommodate I/O modules can also be utilized.

Intelligent sensor with cellular option
Landis+Gyr is expanding its distribution sensor product portfolio by adding a cellular communication option to its S610 Line Sensor. The S610 is used for detecting and locating faults quickly, monitoring power flows, and improving grid reliability. The new cellular model provides the same line monitoring functions as the RF Mesh S610 Line Sensor but uses a cellular radio to communicate directly with utility SCADA or other types of grid management systems. The cellular option allows the S610 to be deployed in areas that do not have an existing RF mesh network in place.

Data transmission via WiFi
Goulds Water Technology’s AqWiFi remote monitoring system is a well system monitor with local and remote access. Compatible with the GWT Aquavar SOLO2 constant pressure system, AqWiFi continuously monitors well systems. It also sends end-users and installers real-time alerts to notify them of changes in operating conditions via smartphone or tablet (Apple or Android only). Wired into the Aquavar SOLO2, AqWiFi transmits live system data to a cloud server where it can be viewed remotely to assist in troubleshooting, quick service and less system downtime.
