Machine learning condition assessment tool

Fracta’s software solution uses machine learning and big data to optimize potable water pipe replacement for U.S. water utilities. Fracta combines and standardizes utility data with hundreds of data points from national and regional sources. The machine learning algorithm ranks pipes with a Likelihood of Failure (LOF) rating, which is more accurate than age and leak history models and can be generated at a fraction of the time and cost. These rankings are used to develop or modify water pipe replacement plans, ultimately deferring unnecessary replacement and reducing replacement spending by 40% or more between now and 2050.

Closed circuit reverse osmosis module

LANXESS has announced a significant addition to its LewaPlus® software suite of reverse osmosis (RO) and ion exchange (IX) system dimensioning capabilities. The new module provides system modeling with Desalitech’s Closed Circuit Reverse Osmosis (CCRO) technology and enables the dimensioning of RO systems using the latest available water treatment technology, helping system designers bring their water treatment footprint closer to zero liquid discharge (ZLD) or minimum liquid discharge (MLD) goals. The system operates in two alternating modes: Closed Circuit (CC) mode at 100% recovery and Plug Flow (PF), or flushing mode, at 10 to 50% recovery.

Multi-parameter water analysis

De Nora’s Capital Controls® MicroChem®3 is a multi-parameter water analysis system offering both chlorine measurement and control in one versatile instrument. Tailor the modular MicroChem®3 to your individual application with up to three measurement parameters. Designed with extensive customer input, the system includes an intuitive touchscreen display, menu-driven software to easily guide users through set-up and operation, and a USB interface for software updates and data log downloads.

Inverter duty vertical TEFC motors

Nidec Motor Corporation is adding U.S. Motors® brand vertical totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) inverter duty motors to its stocked offerings. Vertical HOLLOSHAFT® high thrust motors are designed for use on turbine, mix flow and propeller pumps ranging from 5 HP to 300 HP, and are suitable for variable frequency drive (VFD) operation per NEMA® standards. The pump shaft is extended through the hollow shaft, so adjustments required to lift impellers and give a running clearance with the pump casing can be made by a nut threaded on the shaft at the accessible top portion of the motor.
