Utility Links
Scott Rubin's Public Utility Home Page at http://www.PublicUtilityHome.com offers a comprehensive collection of resources for utility industry professionals. Categories of interest to water professionals include Water Utility Information, Environmental Information, Federal Government Information, Federal Public Utility Statutes, News Sources, State Utility Resources (links to state PUCs, statutes, and regulations), Organizations, and New Documents of Interest. The site provides text links and loads extremely fast because of its text only format.
Prestressed Concrete Tanks
Preload in November launched its new web site located at www.preload.com. The site includes company background information, many examples of storage tanks, a design and construction overview, and economic benefits. Examples of municipal and industrial applications demonstrate the versatility of the company's prestressed concrete tanks in applications that include potable water storage, wastewater treatment and chilled water storage. Visitors can view blow-up photos clearly to see the advantages of different architectural treatments, above ground and partially buried applications, and tanks with dome or flat slab roofs. The site shows how Preload tanks have a very long service life and do not require routine maintenance to provide long term, cost effective storage solutions.
Seals & Packing
Greene, Tweed & Co.'s Fluid Handling Group has upgraded its section of the website. Click the Fluid Handling icon at the top of the website home page at www.gtweed.com. The group offers seals, composite plastics, valve stem packings and o-rings for a variety of industries including municipal water applications. A new pull-down menu takes the user directly to market segments, product areas, services and worldwide contacts. Visitors also can learn what is new and where the company plans to exhibit.
Energy Efficiency Systems
The complete Service Systems International Ltd. Newsletter, Volume 2, Issue 2, December 2000, is available to view online at http://www.rinvestor. net/service_systems/newsletters.asp in html, MSWord and Adobe PDF formats. Service Systems International is a high technology company engaged in the development and commercialization of energy efficient water and wastewater treatment systems. Its wholly owned subsidiary, UV Systems Technology, engineers, manufactures, and markets the Ultra GuardRegistered UV disinfection system.
Global Water News
Frost & Sullivan has announced the launch of its Water Industry Update, revealing a number of trends currently affecting the global water sector. The newsletter includes a discussion of the rise of outsourcing services across Europe, online water trading, water help desks, UV systems, and desalination. For further news items and topical discussions revolving around trends in the global water industry and expanded U.S. coverage, visit Frost & Sullivan's website at www.water.frost.com.
Hazmat Storage
Safety Storage announced its newly redesigned website, www.safetystorage.com. The company provides pre-fabricated and relocatable steel buildings for the storage of chemicals and hazardous materials. The site offers information about the product lines, optional equipment and accessories to meet safety, environmental, regulatory and customer requirements.
Survey To Win
A worldwide interface to J.T. Baker is now available online at www.jtbaker.com. A new online customer satisfaction survey offers an opportunity to win prizes such as DVD players and hand-held color televisions. (No purchase is necessary to enter.) The site also offers information about the company's chemicals that is specific for each country. Market-focused segments have been added to narrow searches and provide faster access to the specific products important to customers. Certificates of Analyses and MSDSs provide information in easy-to-use formats. A distributor page allows customers to select a distributor from an alphabetical list or view them by state or country.
iWater Mail:
Dear iWater: I just finished reading my September issue, which is incidentally my first issue of WaterWorld Magazine. What a surprise to find mention of my tapping team in the Interactive Water Report. I was the copper person for the combined Mt. Scott Water District/Portland Water Bureau team. I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for mentioning the women's tapping teams from several of the organizations that participated this year. We are very proud of the fact that there were six teams at nationals this year and hope to see more in the future. AWWA has announced that they plan to have an official women's division at the contest for 2001. Again, thank you for mentioning the women's tapping teams. It means a lot to us that you are recognizing us and our endeavors.
Sincerely,
Kim Anderson
Administrative Assistant

Dear iWater: I was unable to find the Water Research Reports for the Water and Science Board's web site, as noted in WaterWorld November/December 2000.
The correct URL is: http://www4. nationalacademies.org/cger/wstb.nsf
Peggy Murphy
City of Portland, Oregon
Bureau of Water Works
Dear Peggy: Today I found the site at both URL's and I emailed the director to see what he could tell us about the change. Thanks again for keeping me on my toes. It's readers like you who make this job worthwhile.

Dear iWater: FYI, here is our current, correct address: http://www4.nationalacademies.org/cger/wstb.nsf. Recently the Academies decided to describe itself in a way that better encompass all the pieces of this complex organization (i.e., NAS, NAE, IOM, & NRC). We're now nationalacademies.org
