Professional Services Group (PSG), a contract operations firm, received a 15.5 year, $12.4 million contract extension from the Seymour Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) for the continued operation, maintenance and management of the Seymour, Conn., 3 mgd wastewater treatment plant.
Under the contract, all plant employees will be provided long-term security, including pension protection.
WPCA started working with PSG in 1994, due to certification and safety issues. Under the pact, PSG assumes all the risks associated with running Seymour?s wastewater treatment facility. In addition to operating the plant, PSG oversees the collection system and handles billing/administrative services. The contract also provides guarantees on all maintenance and repair costs, as well as new service equipment costs. PSG will update treatment processes when necessary to comply with federal regulations.
The operations of PSG, a subsidiary of Aqua Alliance and Vivendi, have recently been combined with USFilter?s Operating Services Group. The new entity will be marketed under the banner of USFilter Operating Services as a water and wastewater treatment, outsourcing and public-private partnership company.
