Shut-off tool

Wheeler-Rex’s line of shut off tools are used both in the maintenance and installation of soft copper service lines, and as “emergency valves” that eliminate time spent searching for inaccessible or non-existent shut-off cocks. The tools are designed for use even in the tightest quarters. Available in three size ranges, the tools feature a swing out design, which means no die removal is necessary. They are compact, rugged, corrosion resistant, and come complete with ratchet, socket and tool box.

Piping supply stick

Plast-O-Matic Valves has developed a pressure regulating supply stick that combines a number of valves, connectors, and gauges into a compact, single-piece design. The Series PCWS was developed to eliminate connections and minimize space requirements in plastic piping systems. The reduction in size and connections provides an overall increase in piping strength by 1400%, virtually eliminating potential for breakage.

Pipe lining

PipeMedic™, a patent-pending process from QuakeWrap, offers improvements over the traditional wet layup pipe lining systems. The liner is manufactured using specially designed carbon fabrics and resins that are passed through a press to create very strong and thin laminates. The laminates are rolled into a coil and held in the coiled position with a string for transportation. Once inside the pipe or tank, the string is removed and the laminate’s elastic memory will cause it to snap itself against the surface of the pipe or tank. Application of the liner leaves the internal diameter of the pipe virtually unchanged and significantly increases the original strength.

Chemical piping connectors

Hydro Instruments offers a complete range of options for connecting chemical carrier piping to water or wastewater process flow. The products will ensure pipe walls are protected from aggressive chemicals by moving the point of introduction to the center of the stream and will provide rapid and complete mixing of the chemical being introduced to the process water. For connecting a chemical carrier pipe to a larger process water pipe, Hydro offers corporation stop assemblies in various sizes (½" – 2") and material options (PVC, CPVC, PVDF, PTFE and stainless steel). With a corporation stop assembly, the diffuser can be installed or removed while the process water pipe remains full and pressurized. Hydro also produces all-plastic versions of these assemblies, which utilize plastic ball valves and sealing parts.

Pipe couplings

Matco-Norca’s 452H Series Heavy Duty No Hub Couplings are manufactured to ASTM specifications for use in demanding soil pipe applications. Consisting of a neoprene rubber gasket (compliant with ASTM C564 requirements) and a heavy gauge stainless steel (300 series) clamp assembly, the couplings are available with four or six bands, depending on the coupling size, that come with specially designed bi-directional eyelets. They are available in sizes 2" through 10".

Leak detection

Pure Technologies has introduced a new technology called SoundPrint® SmartBall™. It is used for detecting and pinpointing leaks and air pockets in large diameter water and wastewater pipelines. The leak detection system is intended for use in both water transmission mains and wastewater force mains constructed of a variety of materials such as steel, ductile iron, concrete, PVC, asbestos, etc., with diameters greater than 10". The design of the un-tethered sensor will allow the surveying of many miles of pipeline by providing the capability of passing through existing valves, appurtenances, sharp bends and changing pipe diameters.

Pipe rollers

McElroy Manufacturing’s Low Profile Rollers are a modular pipe roller designed to keep 4" to 20" diameter high-density polyethylene pipe clean and off the ground. Perfectly paired with other productivity-enhancing tools, such as the PolyHorse, the new rollers are tip-resistant, allow for curved pulls of pipe over considerable distances and provide no resistance to external fusion joint beads moving across the roller.
