PHOENIX, Sept. 28, 2005 -- DL Engineering & Controls, Inc. (DLEC) is nearing completion of the Phase 1 design for the Gilbert, Ariz., Wastewater Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system upgrade.

Design services include preparation of electrical plans, detailed fabrication drawings, and bill of materials for preparing the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the Phase 2 Construction Contract. Additionally, the design is to include plans for a secure wireless network which would provide mobile capabilities to system operators. The advantages of a wireless network include the ability to remotely monitor and control distant sites, the ability to download information to facilitate troubleshooting, and overall increased efficiency and reduced downtime. Because the Town of Gilbert extends south almost all the way to Maricopa, these improvements will provide greater coverage in the southern region of the Town.

"We selected DLEC for Phase 1 due to their outstanding reputation and past track record with the Town of Gilbert," said Jim Rish, project management consultant for the Town of Gilbert. "We knew we could trust them to do a great job."

DLEC was the system programmer for Gilbert's first wastewater SCADA in 1995 and has also programmed a number of wells and booster pump stations, as well as both phases of the water treatment plant construction.

DL Engineering & Controls, Inc. (www.dlecinc.com) specializes in industrial facility electrical design, construction management services, and integration and support services, with a major focus in the water and wastewater industry. Based in Phoenix, DLEC provides solutions ranging from brief letter reports to multi-million dollar SCADA system design and integration projects for municipalities, private water companies, developers, civil engineering firms and general contractors throughout the U.S. Southwest.
