ORLANDO, FL, Sept. 12, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ObjectVideo, a leader in intelligent video, today announced at ASIS International 2005 that it has been awarded Frost & Sullivan's 2005 Excellence in Technology Award in the field of Video Surveillance Technologies (Recording and Data Processing) in recognition of its development of highly sophisticated and accurate solutions, expertise in computer vision and status as the market leader in intelligent video.

The analyst group describes ObjectVideo VEW® and ObjectVideo Forensics™ as "outstanding applications (that) detect threats in video and save critical time in video review so that security professionals are able to respond in real time to a variety of potential threats." Noting that "ObjectVideo has already established itself as the market leader," Frost & Sullivan applauds its focus on the intelligent software component and "special expertise in computer vision, developing sophisticated algorithms that make the video analysis they provide more effective and proactive."

"What distinguishes ObjectVideo's technologies from that of its peers is its low incidence of 'false positives' and 'false negatives," state Frost & Sullivan analysts. "The products have extraordinary ability to discern between normal occurrences and real threats. This makes the solutions highly dependable and indicates the high degree of sophistication in the artificial intelligence employed."

The Excellence in Technology Award recognizes pioneers in the development and introduction to market of an innovative technology that has either impacted or has the potential to impact several market sectors and is expected to bring significant contributions to the industry in terms of adoption, change, and competitive posture.

"This award further validates ObjectVideo's development of advanced technology for practical use in the real world. We are excited about this recognition by Frost and Sullivan and the acknowledgement of intelligent video's central role in making video systems smarter and more useful," said Brian Eckert, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, ObjectVideo.

The award highlights the flexibility and ease of use of ObjectVideo's software, which can be retrofitted as a layer over a standard analogue system with cables, switches and the like; the only requirement for software installation is the availability of a few PCs. In the case of a digital or IP video system, the system serves as just a software component that will fit into an IP video management platform, a unique adaptability and another factor that distinguishes the software.

Frost & Sullivan analysts point out that ObjectVideo's products are able to function across a variety of systems such as CCTV, wireless, and infrared-based, etc., to provide real-time detection, automation, identification, tracking and analysis of events and potential threats. They also mention ObjectVideo's introduction of innovative package components, such as an intelligent video library, which is so flexible and easy-to-deploy that it can be integrated in virtually any type of video surveillance system.

The award notes ObjectVideo's alliances with some of the industry's leading manufacturers and integrators, where its technology forms the software intelligence component of the partners' surveillance/security systems. It also cites ObjectVideo's clear vision of its product strategy and ability to sign up original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that will deploy ObjectVideo intelligence built-in to digital signal processors (DSPs) on their cameras, switches, encoders, DVRs and routers.

The Excellence in Technology Award selection process includes primary participant interviews and extensive primary and secondary research via the bottom-up approach by an analyst team that considers the company's overall technical excellence; commitment toward and pace of technology innovation; potential relevance or significance of the technology to the overall industry; and a variety of other criteria.

Other awards ObjectVideo has received include 2005 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer; 2004 and 2005 Red Herring 100 Private Companies of North America; 2004 Virginia Small Business Research Commercialization Award; 2003 Security Industry of America New Product Showcase "Best of ISC Show"; and 2003 Frost & Sullivan Entrepreneurial Company of the Year.
