SAN FRANCISCO, June 15, 2005 -- Microwave Data Systems (MDS), a world leader in industrial, wireless, networking solutions with applications in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), public safety, automation, telecommunications, and online transactional markets, together with full-service partner Twin Eagle Consulting, will provide MDS entraNET 900TM radios for Brighton, Colorado's water and wastewater SCADA system.
The company based in Rochester, N.Y., made the announcement at the American Water Works Association (AWWA) 2005 Annual Conference and Exposition in San Francisco.
MDS is providing the city's police department with a radio system to support both their fixed and mobile data requirements. This makes Brighton one of several municipalities currently leveraging one wireless MDS infrastructure for multiple applications.
The city is currently in the process of replacing and upgrading the SCADA systems for its well water network and wastewater treatment plants. The MDS entraNET's ability to function as a gateway between installed serial equipment and a new IP network was a key factor in the selection of the MDS entraNET.
Additional reasons the MDS entraNET was chosen include its extended coverage, higher speed capabilities and security features.
