DENVER, May 31, 2005 -- Golder Associates Inc. has acquired Resource Technologies Group Inc. (RTG), expanding Golder's Denver office capabilities and enabling Golder to become a more prominent player in the water treatment market. RTG is a 40-person consulting and contracting business founded in 1981 that provides water treatment engineering, contracting, and operations & maintenance (O&M) services to mining and waste management clients in the United States.

The addition of RTG staff expands Denver operations to 165 employees and marks the development of a new Golder services group -- the Water Treatment Group -- managed by former RTG executives Erich Tiepel and Kevin Conroy.

Initially focusing on mining industry needs, they intend to also link with Golder's design group in Philadelphia, which designs landfill gas systems, leachate systems, environmental remedial systems and industrial waste treatment, all fields with strong growth opportunities. The Water Treatment Group will add its own expertise in leachate treatment for the waste sector, groundwater treatment for environmental remediation, and industrial wastewater treatment for manufacturers and utilities.

"This is a great strategic move for Golder because it expands our services into an area that our mining and waste management clients have been requesting," says GAI President Steve Thompson, "while giving RTG access to a much larger pool of clients. Now that they are part of the Golder team, we can provide a full-service package that our clients are interested in."

Golder and RTG have a common client base including federal and state government agencies and mining companies such as Homestake and Phelps-Dodge. Current Golder/RTG projects include design, operation and maintenance services at both Rocky Flats and Rocky Mountain Arsenal, where Golder is also providing construction support services. RTG also holds two prime contracts with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for O&M services of acid mine drainage treatment facilities at the Summitville Mine and Argo Tunnel in Colorado.

Golder Associates Inc. (www.golder.com) is the U.S. operating company of Golder Associates, a global group of consulting companies specializing in ground engineering and environmental services. Golder Associates is employee-owned and has experienced steady growth since its formation in 1960. More than 4,000 people operate in local companies in offices across Africa, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. Golder has been recognized by independent media organizations as a quality place to work by winning "Best Employer to Work For" awards in Australia, Canada, South Africa and the U.S, and consistently ranks high in Engineering News Record and other trade publications.
