MILWAUKEE, WI, Dec. 14, 2005 -- Terasen Utility Services and Terasen Measurement, announce the grand opening of its state-of-the-art Triple Point meter testing facility that uses patent-pending technology to test flow meters using carbon dioxide. An open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the facility in Penticton, BC, Canada, in November.
"As the facility is the first of its type in the world, it makes Terasen Measurement a global leader in measurement technologies and reflects our commitment to operational excellence in everything we do", said Alan Conway, Manager, Terasen Measurement, in acknowledgement of the groundbreaking nature of this technology and of the facility that supports it.
The Triple Point facility is the first to use the patent-pending technology developed and tested by Terasen Measurement staff. This testing methodology capitalizes on the physical attributes of carbon dioxide and the ability to test and calibrate meters under operating conditions and a varying flow levels, resulting in more accurate measurement in the field.
Terasen Measurement has long been recognized in the industry as a quality service provider and has achieved world-wide recognition for its meter servicing ability receiving both Measurement Canada accreditation and ISO 9002 Certification. This dedication to service has lead to the creation of this leading edge technology and custom designed facility that at the same time can offer faster turn around time, more accurate meters and a safer and more cost effective testing method.
"Terasen Measurement has been searching for a high pressure turbine meter testing solution for many years. After rejecting so many different concepts and ideas in the past, it is very satisfying to confirm that the best solution is so simple, elegant, and economical," said Paul Tang, inventor of the Triple Point technology and project manager of the Triple Point facility.
