CarteGraph software adds four new clients
DUBUQUE, IA, July 11, 2005, CarteGraph Systems announces new organizations in Nebraska, Massachusetts, Iowa and Virginia have joined the hundreds of other organizations utilizing CarteGraph Software to achieve better efficiencies in their organizations.

-- Blair, Neb., purchased WATERview, SEWERview, STORMview, WORKdirector and MAPdirector for ArcGIS. The city will work with CarteGraph and Olsson & Associates out of Omaha, Neb., on the implementation and data collection. The city's data will reside in ESRI's ArcGIS geodatabase.

-- Brookline, Mass., chose CarteGraph's WORKdirector, CALLlink, VERSAtools and MAPdirector for ArcGIS. In Phase One, the town will implement WORKdirector and VERSAtools for tracking building maintenance. Brookline had spent time planning and strategically thinking about how they could combine their databases into one system. With CarteGraph they can achieve this goal.

-- Dyersville, Iowa, will be using CarteGraph's SEWERview, WATERview, WORKdirector and MAPdirector for ArcGIS to accurately understand and maintain the components in their sewer and water systems. With CarteGraph, it will have a better idea of its productivity and also be able to monitor capital assets for GASB34. In the future, it looks to expand to tracking streets and signs with CarteGraph.

-- Waynesboro, Va., purchased WATERview and MAPdirector for ArcGIS for its Water Department. It plans to use the software to inventory and maintain its water distribution system and integrate the data in GIS. The first priority is to gather all of the information for water distribution and then migrate into work management.

Purifics ES Inc. awarded contract for 1,4-Dioxane groundwater treatment
LONDON, Ontario, Canada, July 11, 2005 -- Purifics ES Inc. has been awarded a contract to supply a Photo-Cat (UV-photocatalytic) system for the treatment of 1,4-dioxane in groundwater in the United States. The Photo-Cat system destroys 1,4-dioxane from 150 ppb down to levels that are below detection limits. This system will operate at a flow rate of 25gpm, producing treated water of superior quality than drinking water.

Unlike other conventional UV systems, the Photo-Cat system is completely chemical-free, and does not require the use of wipers.

The Photo-Cat system destroys 1,4-dioxane in the groundwater in the presence of approximately 600 ppb bromide ion, without oxidizing this species into toxic bromate ion. It will be positioned downstream of an existing 10-year old pump-and-treat installation, which is primarily comprised of an air stripper for the removal of chlorinated solvents. A unique safeguard lies in the fact that the system destroys any residual chlorinated solvents that escape from the air stripper. This is an example of a newly discovered problem (presence of 1,4-dioxane) in an existing remediation treatment train. This solution was a simple "plug-in," and provided the best solution for the treatment of 1,4-dioxane. Installation will be completed by the end of August 2005.

Eaton to purchase Industrial Filtration Business from Hayward Industries
CLEVELAND, OH, July 8, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has reached an agreement with Hayward Industries Inc. to purchase its industrial filtration business. Terms were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2005.

Hayward Filtration produces filtration systems for industrial and commercial customers worldwide. It's a global leader in liquid, high-purity bag filtration systems, marketed under the Hayward FiltrationTM global brand name. Its primary markets include general industrial, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, power utilities, marine and water.

Hayward's industrial filtration business had sales of about $100 million over the last 12 months, and employs about 530 people worldwide. It is headquartered in Elizabeth, N.J., and operates five manufacturing facilities in the United States, Belgium, Germany, China and Brazil.

Severn Trent Services arsenic removal technology chosen for large Calif. facility
FORT WASHINGTON, PA, July 8, 2005 -- The SORB 33® arsenic removal technology and Bayoxide® E33 arsenic removal media from Severn Trent Services have been selected for use at a 3,000 gallons per minute (gpm) water treatment facility in the San Bernardino area where total arsenic in the groundwater has been measured in the range of 18 to 22 parts per billion (ppb) compared to the new EPA standard of 10 ppb. This will be one of the largest arsenic removal facilities in the state of California.

STS was awarded the contract for the system by Earth Tech, a global provider of engineering, construction and operations services to the water and wastewater industry. Pacific Hydratech, a company that provides construction services for the water and oil refining industries, will be the general contractor.

Earth Tech evaluated several technologies before selecting SORB 33 and Bayoxide E33 including microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, electro dialysis reversal, permeable reactive barriers, electro kinetic, phytoremediation and biological treatment.

Severn Trent Services developed the SORB 33 process to reduce arsenic contamination across a range of water treatment application sizes, and the technology has been commercially proven to effectively and economically meet the stringent new government standards for maximum arsenic contaminant levels. Bayoxide E33 is a dry, robust, granular ferric oxide media designed with a high capacity for arsenic, providing long operating cycles and low operating costs.

Watts Water Technologies acquires Savard water connectors, Microflex
NORTH ANDOVER, MA, July 8, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Watts Water Technologies Inc. has acquired the water connector business of the Donald E. Savard Company in an asset purchase transaction. Earlier in the week, it also announced it would buy Microflex N.V., a Belgian company, in a stock purchase transaction.

Annual revenues of Savard's water connector business is about $6 million.

Watts Water Technologies' CEO Patrick S. O'Keefe, commented, "The acquisition of the water connector business of the Donald E. Savard Company is consistent with our theme of water conservation, safety and control. This acquisition allows us to expand our presence in one of our leading product lines with a brand name that is well known to the plumbing wholesale market."

This acquisition allows Watts Water Technologies to expand its product offering in the HVAC and water protection markets. Microflex products provide its customers with a reliable and safe solution in the transportation of water for heating, cooling and potable water applications."

Microflex has annual revenues of approximately of $8.5 million.

Terms were not disclosed on either transaction.

Calif. DWR, DPR schedule Hetch Hetchy study workshop
SACRAMENTO, CA, July 8, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will conduct a media briefing and public workshop on Thursday, July 14, regarding the state's Hetch Hetchy Valley Restoration Study.

Beginning at 9 a.m., the press briefing will take place in the first floor media room of the Joe Serna Jr.-Cal/EPA Building at 1001 "I" Street, Sacramento.

At 10 a.m., the workshop begins with opening remarks in the second floor auditorium, followed by an orientation session at 10:30. During an open house from 10:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., visitors are invited to tour 12 poster display stations.

After a lunch break, the workshop will reconvene with questions and comments until 2:30 p.m.

Last fall, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger directed the Resources Agency to review and summarize Hetch Hetchy Valley restoration studies and analyses prepared over the last two decades. DWR and DPR were assigned to act as impartial third parties in preparing that summary. The workshop is designed to offer a progress report and solicit further direction from attendees.

This is an information sharing workshop and no decision or recommendations on the future of Hetch Hetchy will come from this meeting.

Townsville City Council in full production with ArcFM
Fort Collins, CO, July 7, 2005 -- Townsville City Council in North Queensland, Australia, has now deployed ArcFM to maintain and manage their water, wastewater, and stormwater networks. The implementation of ArcFM has enabled the automation of fundamental processes, which have seen a productivity increase of 300% for maintenance and 25% for 'as constructed' subdivision capture. WK Dickson appoints new director of water, wastewater services

York Water Company acquires Spring Grove water systems
YORK, PA, July 7, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The York Water Company President Jeffrey S. Osman reported that on July 6, the company purchased the water systems of Spring Grove Borough and Spring Grove Water Company that serve about 1,000 customers in York County, Pa.

The company is serving the customers of the Borough and Spring Grove Water Company by using York Water's fully filtered and treated water supply. This treated water supply is being provided through a main which has been constructed by York Water to interconnect with the Borough's and Spring Grove Water's existing distribution facilities.
