HITCHIN, United Kingdom, July 27, 2005 -- Helden has secured its first major contract in the United Arab Emirates to supply its new UltraGrip range of high-tolerance pipe couplings and flange adaptors for the D4409 project on Ghanada Island.
The order, placed with contractor Al Husam, includes over one hundred UltraGrip DN300 couplings and a smaller quantity of DN175, along with AquaGrip Flange Adaptors.
The client is the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA), which has approved UltraGrip for use as a transition joint between PE and Ductile Iron pipe -- a situation encountered with increasing frequency worldwide as PE pipe usage increases.
UltraGrip is ideal for such transitions, because it has a unique gripping mechanism that prevents pipe pull-out on either side of the joint - without the need for external restraint.
The gripping mechanism works on almost every combination of pipe materials, including steel, ductile and cast iron, PVC and PE.
Helden is a trade name for Viking Johnson (www.vikingjohnson.com). With headquarters in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England, Viking Johnson has been supplying high quality pipe products to the international water, gas and industrial markets for more than 70 years.
