DUISBURG, Germany, April 12, 2005 -- Gazprom, one of Russia's foremost gas exploration and production concerns commissioned Krohne Oil & Gas to create a metering skid to measure condensate accurately over extended periods at minimal cost and effort. The result was the Gazprom standard skid that's destined to be the industry standard throughout Russia and the former states.
When condensate faces pressure loss -- for example when it passes through a strainer or through a turbine -- it can break down and produce water vapor. This has a catastrophic effect on the measurement causing fluctuating rotational speeds in the turbine and therefore erroneous results.
The Altosonic V is a non-invasive meter calibrated and certified for custody transfer. It will not drift, needs no periodic calibration nor causes pressure loss. Moreover it can measure multiproducts (obviating the need for multiple runs to match the blend being measured). In the rig designed, engineered, manufactured, calibrated, certified, delivered and commissioned for Gazprom, one Altosonic V does the job of 10 turbines. Since it's bidirectional, it works for straight and reverse flow. In the skid, there's a duty meter (0.15% accuracy) and in a separate switchable loop there's a reference meter (0.1% accuracy) which can prove that accurate results are achieved long term.
The Russian Deputy Premier and Industry and Energy Minister Victor Borissovich Khristenko officially took the keys to the new rig at this year's Hanover Industrial Fair, April 12 and 15 in Hanover, Germany.
"This type of rig will become the standard for all state-owned companies, but more importantly -- for private companies to ensure that all companies in Russia work to common, provable and traceable standards." Shortly thereafter the head of board of directors, Chairman Bilayev, inspected the rig.
