HITCHIN, Hertfordshire, UK -- Thirty DN1600 stepped couplings are making connections between existing asbestos cement mains and new ductile iron pipework on the wastewater treatment plant at Sorman, some 75 kilometres east of Tripoli on the Libyan coast.
Capable of treating as much as 860 m³/hr, the Sorman wastewater treatment works (WwTW) has been designed by Engineering Consultant of Utilities (ECOU) on behalf of the client, Sobrata & Sorman Shapya, representing the municipality. The contractor used for the project was the Arab Union Construction Company.
Viking Johnson's large diameter range includes conventional couplings and flange adaptors designed for pipes from DN350 to DN5000 and capable of accommodating pressures up to 100 bar (1,450 psi).
The company has had a continuous presence in Libya for the last fifteen years, as a supplier of pipe joints for the on-going Great Man Made River project.
