LOUISVILLE, KY, May 5, 2015 -- The Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association has presented the 2014 Elevated Tank of the Year Award to Caldwell Tanks, a provider of liquid-containment structures, for its efforts in the city of Reedley, Calif.
Caldwell constructed a 1.5-million-gallon Steel Fluted Column Elevated Tank for Reedley, where it now stands in the central hub of the city's new sports park complex.
In addition to storing water, the tank features an internal elevator, multiple interior rooms for various usages, and metal exterior canopies to provide shade and protection to patrons.
Some noteworthy points of the tank are:
- Over 660 tons of steel was used in the water tank and supporting structure.
- Over 815 cubic yards of concrete support the structure.
- Over 100,000 square feet of total painted steel surface cover the tank.
- Over 400 feet of 12-inch-diameter steel pipes fill, drain and properly overflow the tank.
