ABB upgrades Boston's ageing water meters for US$ 22 M
The Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) awarded ABB a US$ 22 million, 36-month contract to replace 79,000 ageing water meters and upgrade Boston's meter reading system to an automated Fixed Network Radio System. ABB will provide project management and supply ABB absolute encoder water meters equipped with the Hexagram Fixed Network RF system. Honeywell will manage system installation.
Together, ABB and Hexagram of Cleveland, Ohio, USA deployed together more than 350,000 Fixed Network radio AMR meters.
This award follows another huge contract for ABB. The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority awarded ABB a three-year meter replacement and AMR system upgrade contract including 130,000 new ABB absolute encoder register water meters.
