Wedeco system meets Title 22 in California

Wedeco AG Water Technology reports that its US subsidiary Wedeco-Ideal Horizons received "Conditional Acceptance" for its ultraviolet disinfection system TAK55. Soon after the City of Lincoln, developer Del Webb California Corporation and the US-based engineering firm Eco:logic selected the Wedeco TAK55 system for a planned wastewater reuse facility. The Lincoln UV system design flow is 1,057 m3/hour with provisions for a future upgrade to 1,268 m3/hour.

The US State of California's Water Recycling Criteria (WRC), known as Title 22, requires disinfected filtered reclaimed water to be essentially pathogen-free. Disinfection with UV light is an important part of the treatment process. Since the performance of the UV system within this application has a direct impact on the maintenance of public health, the California Department of Health Services (DHS) defined a stringent approval process prior to the acceptance of any UV technology for the treatment of water for reuse.
