SINGAPORE – Water and energy project developer China Everbright Water has secured the Nanjing Pukou Industrial Wastewater Treatment Project Phase I.

A joint venture company will be established, with partner Jiangsu Zhongbo taking a 40% stake, to deliver the contract.

To be delivered on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis, wastewater will be treated from the integrated circuit industry zone in the Pukou Economic Development Zone, Nanjing.

Total contractual daily wastewater treatment capacity has been slated at 40,000 m3/day, which will be constructed in phases.

Phase I of the Project has a designed wastewater treatment capacity of 10,000 m3/day with a concession period of 20 years.

The total investment of the Phase I is approximately RMB62 million (US$9.3m) and the water discharge will comply with the national Grade 1A standard. Operation is set to start in June 2017.

The contract win followed Everbright Water having already secured the Nanjing Pukou Wastewater Treatment Project (Phase I, II and upgrade), Nanjing Liuhe Wastewater Treatment Project (Phase I and II) and Nanjing Pukou Reusable Project with a total designed treatment capacity of 140,000 m3/day.

In July the company expanded into South East Asia solid waste market after securing the Vietnam Can Tho waste to energy project.

Wang Tianyi, executive director & chairman of Everbright Water, said: "Winning of this Pukou Industrial WWT Project would further increase Everbright Water’s scale of water projects in Nanjing as well as enhance Everbright Water’s brand influence in Nanjing and the surrounding areas. It is also of great strategic significance to the company in expanding its business areas.”
