SOUTHAMPTON, UK - Specialist contractor Prater has secured a contract to design the £63 million redevelopment of the Woolston Wastewater Treatment facility located near to Southampton, UK.
The existing facility, which was built in 1966, was in need of modernisation to meet the current Environment Agency standards for recycled wastewater.
The redevelopment of the site by 4Delivery, a joint venture between Veolia, Costain and MWH Global, is also hoped to solve many of the odour issues previously encountered by local residents and businesses.
Work is expected to begin on site during summer 2017 with the project due for completion in 2018.
Stephen Walker, pre-contracts manager at Prater, said: “Our team was able to solve a variety of technical issues throughout the tender process and add value to the conceptual stage of what will be a very challenging project.”
