Polymem progresses with UF hollow fiber membrane production line

COLOMBES, France - Polymem's plans to develop a production line to manufacture membranes with the Kynar nanostructured PVDF developed by Arkema are progressing with a plant expected to be operational by the end of 2016.

The industrial line will manufacture hydrophilic membranes in the form of micro-porous fibers and then assemble them into ultrafiltration modules (UF).

It was in 2014, Arkema and Polymem, a French SME specialising in the manufacture of filtration modules from hollow fiber membranes, joined forces to develop the UF technology.

The companies claim that the “excellent hydrophilicity and reduced fouling of the nanostructured Kynar fibers maintained throughout their operating lifetime has since been validated on several scales”.

The industrial line is the next stage to help roll the UF technology out globally.
