ISTANBUL, Turkey – Italian company Fisia Italimpianti has secured its second wastewater project in Turkey, worth €57 million.
This latest contract will see the company build a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with joint-venture partners Alkatas and Alke over 36 months in the city’s Yenikapi neighbourhood for municipal water utilityIstanbul Su ve Kanalizasyon Idaresi (ISKI).
Once completed, the plant will treat 450,000 cubic metres of waste water per day, a volume equal to the sewage produced by two million residents.
The company’s first contract won in 2016 involves modernising and expanding a wastewatertreatment plant in the Atakoy neighbourhood of Istanbul.
The two plants – one in Atakoy and the other in Yenikapi – will be capable of meeting the needs to treat wastewater produced by 30 percent of the population of Istanbul.
Fisia Italimpianti’s total production capacity of potable water reached 4.2 million cubic metres a day, 350,000 of which comes from reverse osmosis technology.
