Canadian company Island Water Technologies has secured $500,000 seed round investment by Island Capital Partners (ICP) and Natural Products Canada (NPC).
Funding will be directed toward commercialisation of technologies that allow for low-energy wastewatertreatment and real-time monitoring of microbe performance in wastewater treatment systems.
Last year the company finished installation of a containerised wastewater treatment plant in Hassi Messaoud, Algeria. The company has also secured wastewater projects in China and Kenya.
IWT was recently accepted into the water accelerator, Imagine H2O.
“It’s clear that our products are hitting the market at a time when wastewater issues are critical,” says Dr. Patrick Kiely, founder and CEO of IWT. “This investment enables us to take full advantage of the strategic opportunities that lie before us and get these disruptive solutions deployed to a global marketplace.”
