March 1, 2002 -- Water utilities currently using chloramines in final disinfection or considering switching to chloramines are being asked to fill out a survey as part of an AWWA Research Foundation study entitled "Optimizing Chloramine Treatment."
Being conducted by Economic and Engineering Services, American Water Works Service Company, and Carollo Engineers, the study assesses relevant operational and practical issues, including control practices and problems encountered, about the use of chloramines in water treatment plants and distribution systems.
The goal of the project is to develop guidelines to help utilities optimize their chloramination process. One of the deliverables of the study will be an updated version of AwwaRF 1993 manual entitled "Optimizing Chloramine Treatment."
The survey is now available on Carollo's website at http://www.carollo.com/chloraminesurvey.
A hard copy can be printed directly from the website, or can be obtained by contacting Helene Baribeau at 714-540-4300 or [email protected]. The deadline to fill out the survey is March 22, 2002.
