BRYN MAWR, Pa., Aug. 2, 2002 -- Philadelphia Suburban Corp. has expanded its utility operations in Central Pennsylvania with the acquisition of Rolling Green Water Company, a private utility serving nearly 1,300 residents in Monroe Township, Snyder County in a stock transaction valued at $1.2 million.
The system will be operated by PSC's Consumers Pennsylvania offices in Shamokin, Pennsylvania.
The company plans to invest approximately $250,000 over the next several months in system upgrades to ensure that customers have a quality water supply and reliable service. Among those planned improvements is an interconnection with a nearby water supply system.
PSC Chairman Nicholas DeBenedictis said, "This is our sixth growth venture this year in Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania. We are committed to continued growth in the region and look forward to bringing our water quality expertise to a growing number of area residents."
PSC and its operating subsidiaries have announced 13 growth ventures this year.
PSC is the holding company for regulated public utilities that provide water and wastewater services to approximately two million residents in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, New Jersey, Maine, and North Carolina.
