HERSHEY, Pa., Aug. 28, 2002 -- Pennsylvania-American Water Co. announced Friday that it has completed the acquisition of the water assets of Mid-Monroe Water Co.
"Today, we celebrate the beginning of a new partnership between the associates at Pennsylvania-American and our newest customers in Middle Smithfield Township," said Robert M. Ross, PAWC president and CEO. The transaction expands Pennsylvania-American's water customer base by more than 600 people in Monroe County.
"It's a great fit for Pennsylvania-American," said Ross. "We are the regional provider of water and wastewater service in the area." Pennsylvania- American is the largest water utility in the state serving more than 2 million residents statewide. The company also has two other systems under agreement to be purchased, which serve Winona Lakes and Rustic Acres.
"For the Mid-Monroe customers, the transition will be transparent," said Ross. "We are committed to providing our new customers with the same high level of service and quality water our current customers are accustomed to receiving."
New customers to Pennsylvania-American will also benefit from the Company's state-of-the-art Customer Service Center, which is staffed with customer service representatives 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
