Global Water Technologies today announced that it had filed a patent application for its proprietary AquaPhysics™ non-chemical cooling water treatment system.

GOLDEN, Colo., Jan. 8, 2002 — Global Water Technologies Inc. (GWT) today announced that it had filed a patent application for its proprietary AquaPhysics™ non-chemical cooling water treatment system.

The AquaPhysics™ system incorporates proprietary technology that replaces traditional chemical water treatment with an environmentally sound non-chemical treatment system. The system is being marketed primarily to HVAC and Light Industrial customers worldwide, through Applied Water Technologies, Inc. (AWT), a wholly owned subsidiary of GWT.

Benefits attained through the implementation of the AquaPhysics™ program are: elimination of cooling water treatment chemicals, reductions in energy consumption, as well as decreases in makeup water consumption and tower water discharge. Additional benefits can be attained and quantified from reduced liability associated with improvements in material handling, safety and health related issues. The AquaPhysics™ program incorporates equipment, service, and 24-hour remote monitoring and system control resulting in more efficient cooling system performance.

Commenting on the patent application, George Kast, Chairman and CEO, stated: "We are pleased that our laboratory and field testing of the AquaPhysics™ water treatment system has demonstrated extremely positive results in achieving superior water quality, while reducing water usage, hazardous discharge, and other risks associated with chemical water treatment. Many municipalities are mandating the reduction of hazardous chemicals that can be discharged to public treatment facilities and have increased the discharge cost associated with handling these constituents. Increasing water and energy costs makes the AquaPhysics™ systems very attractive to governmental, institutional, and commercial building owners, as well as light industrial (automotive, pharmaceutical, high-tech, & general manufacturing) facilities managers. Our AquaPhysics™ program addresses the growing demand for 'green facilities' that conserve resources and are environmentally responsible. We believe our proprietary AquaPhysics™ program addresses the needs of this segment of the estimated $500 billion global water treatment industry and is synergistic to our core business."
