Frankfort, KY, November 21, 2002 -- PlanGraphics Inc. aided Horry County, South Carolina Government with the recent launch of a new e-government site that gives citizens and the public access to county services and records that have been previously unavailable except in physical office locations.
PlanGraphics developed the My Neighborhood portion of the HCG Gateway, which provides interactive mapping tools to locate public service information (i.e.: school districts, council districts, precincts, public safety and recreational facilities) based on address, parcel number, or street intersections and zip code.
"As stated in our mission statement, we are dedicated to be leaders and innovators in government, constantly striving through everything we do to improve and deliver our services at the lowest cost. This initial unveiling of online services is the first of many steps enabling 24/7 availability of service 365 days a year to the citizens of Horry County," stated Sheila Butler, Information Technology Director, for Horry County, South Carolina.
"PlanGraphics welcomed the opportunity help Horry County achieve their e-government initiatives and to demonstrate how web-based GIS solutions enhance government efficiency and subsequently lower the cost of services," said Heidi Hammel, PlanGraphics Sr. Systems Analyst.
The HCG Gateway provides Horry County with a flexible and scalable framework to expand the types of online services provided to County residents. PlanGraphics will continue to work with the County on other Intranet and Internet initiatives that will bring a broader range of services and benefits to County personnel and residents.
