Emerson renames Westinghouse Process Control division

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 27, 2002 -- To better reflect its role in providing industry-specific technology and innovative customer solutions, Emerson has renamed its Westinghouse Process Control unit as the Power & Water Solutions division of Emerson Process Management.

The Pittsburgh-based division specializes in providing advanced automation, process control, asset optimization, and information-based technology solutions to meet the operational and regulatory compliance challenges of operating power plants and water and waste treatment facilities.

Among the division's best known products is Ovation®, a sophisticated, reliable real-time monitoring and process control technology designed specifically to help utility operators improve plant efficiency while meeting or exceeding performance standards.

The name change reflects the division's role as a leading industry area of expertise for Emerson Process Management. The change also allows the division to be more closely identified with Emerson Process Management's broad range of products and industry-specific engineering, consulting, project management, and maintenance services to improve process-related operations.

"In response to the needs of power and water facilities, we are continuing to shift from our traditional role as a control systems supplier to that of a process operations consultant," said Ann Pauley, president of the Power & Water Solutions division. "With this transition, it makes more sense for our customers to know us as the power and water experts at Emerson Process Management."

Emerson acquired Westinghouse Process Control from CBS Inc., in 1997.
