MAYNARD, Mass. & THREE VALLEYS WATER, UK, Sept. 9, 2002 -- SiteScape Inc., a provider of business-to-business collaboration software and services, recently announced that Three Valleys Water PLC, a water supplier in the UK, recently launched its corporate-wide Intranet using the portal capabilities of Oracle9i Application Server, in conjunction with SiteScape Forum collaboration software.
Three Valleys Water's Intranet was conceived to support internal communities. To aggregate and share the information that came through the portal, Three Valleys Water used SiteScape Forum to provide additional collaboration functionality including discussion forums, calendaring and workflow.
The results achieved have broken organizational and departmental boundaries by giving `public visibility' to activities and information to 1,250 (out of 1400) employees spread between five main offices and many smaller locations.
According to Dr. Mark Seymour, E-Business Manager for Three Valleys Water, "We want to ensure that is not just seen as another IT application but will change, for the better, the way employees work and communicate as individuals and in teams. SiteScape Forum provides us with an effective set of collaboration and workflow tools that will be used to bring employees closer together and create efficiencies within our organization."
Gary Thomas, Development Manager of Three Valleys Water, adds, "The Oracle/SiteScape combination is proving to be a devolved mechanism to allow content and knowledge to be shared and maintained throughout all of Three Valleys Water. Pertinent content is starting to be targeted and delivered to employees and this will provide exciting challenges as we all try to adapt to new ways of working. Furthermore, using SiteScape Forum has given all of us a sense of involvement and accountability."
Sitescape Forum is tightly coupled with Oracle9i Application Server, allowing the two products to work seamlessly together. At Three Valleys Water's request, SiteScape created a variety of `individual portlets' that allows them to insert a single, specific collaboration component within the Oracle 9iAS Portal, including: discussion/docshare forum, calendar, site map, and a search box. These enhancements have since become part of SiteScape's standard Oracle9i Application Server Portal Development Kit.
Three Valleys Water is very process driven, so over the next few months various features of SiteScape Forum, such as customizable workflow with routing and notifications, will be used to get tasks completed faster and more efficiently.
