Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions have launched the Team GeoMedia® Online Research Library, a web site detailing both ongoing and completed applied research in the geosciences.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Oct. 14, 2002 -- Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions have launched the Team GeoMedia® Online Research Library, a web site detailing both ongoing and completed applied research in the geosciences conducted worldwide by Team GeoMedia Registered Research Laboratory members.

The Team GeoMedia Online Research Library provides a doorway to research projects that include land information management, geospatial infrastructure management, transportation, cartography, mapping, and more. Mapping, IT, and GIS professionals can visit the site to readily reference applied GIS research by the global academic community.

They can explore the Library to spark new ideas, validate existing geospatial practices, procedures, and workflows, and to provide an extensive knowledgebase for researching issues.

The Library showcases Team GeoMedia Registered Research Laboratory members' innovative applied research. Some examples include converting data from diverse formats into a Web-based map for tax assessment, developing a GIS program to efficiently track and route vehicular trauma victims, and applying modern software techniques to develop geospatial software applications for the planning, design, and operation of network utilities.

Registered Research Laboratory members include universities, laboratories, and institutions of higher education that have qualified to receive leading-edge technology and comprehensive development support from Intergraph for advanced research activities using GeoMedia technology.

The easy-to-use site details Registered Research Laboratory applied research projects from the proposal stage to the final research paper. The Library will continue to expand as the program membership grows and the activities of current members are updated.

Fiona McKee, global academic program manager, Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions commented, "The Team GeoMedia Online Research Library provides a valuable resource to the geospatial community and supports the strong commitment that Intergraph has made to the advancement of the geosciences and the business needs of our customers. We hope this readily accessible, central resource of GIS research will serve as a platform for other institutions of higher learning to implement research projects involving GIS technology and will encourage future innovations in the geospatial industry."
