July 10, 2002 -- An upcoming regional water conference will get off to a start with a workshop on seawater desalination.
The Urban Water Institute's 9th Annual Southern California Urban Water Conference will run Aug. 14-16 in the Hyatt Regency Islandia Hotel (across the street from Sea World) at Mission Bay, San Diego, California.
Prior to the conference is a special one day workshop on Seawater Desalination.
Conference organizers estimate that more than 200 water professionals will attend the event.
The conference program will deal with such questions as:
• Who finally is responsible for the Salton Sea?
• Will the Secretary of Interior really cut
• California's water allotment to 4.4 million acre
feet?
• How will Southern California fulfill its water
requirements?
• Is seawater desalination a viable alternative
supply?
• What about issues with Mexico?
• Is the CalFed Bay Delta Program viable?
• What are the alternatives?
The full conference program can be viewed from the web site http://www.urbanwater.com.
