ScottishPower completes sale of Southern Water

GLASGOW, Scotland, April 23, 2002 -- ScottishPower said that the sale of Southern Water, approved by shareholders at an Extraordinary General Meeting of ScottishPower on 11 April 2002, has been duly completed.

This follows the receipt of European Union merger clearance for the sale.

ScottishPower's ADR, equivalent to four ordinary shares, trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol SPI. ScottishPower's ordinary shares trade on the London Stock Exchange.
