HARLEYSVILLE, Pa., April 23, 2002 -- William L. Kacin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Met-Pro Corp., announced that the company's Duall Division, through Met-Pro's International Division's efforts, has received an order to supply six Model PT500-25MD two-stage packaged odor control scrubber systems to the Nanjing Municipal Water Co., Ltd., Nanjing, People's Republic of China, for removal of odors from their waste processing operation.
These systems, to be manufactured at Duall's Owosso, Michigan facility, take advantage of the synergies within Met-Pro Corporation by utilizing Fybroc Division pumps. The total value of this order is $1.5 million and is scheduled for shipment in the second quarter of this fiscal year.
Contributing to Met-Pro's success in securing this order is a strong alliance with a Chinese distributor reinforced by Duall's large installed base of odor control systems worldwide. Particularly important to this order were Duall's successful $900,000 project of seven scrubbers with Chartered Semiconductor Partners (CSP) in Singapore; familiarity of the Chinese distributor with Duall scrubbers at the Hyperion Waste Water Treatment Plant in Los Angeles, California; and a site visit by the Chief Engineer of the Nanjing Municipal Design and Research Institute to Duall's $1.1 million odor control installation in Atlanta, Georgia that was the "Featured Facility Tour" at the Water Environment Federation Annual Conference and Exposition in October, 2001.
"This will be our first major installation of an odor control system in China," said Kacin. "The People's Republic of China joined the World Trade Organization and has begun the cleanup of its environment in preparation for hosting the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. We are actively involved in developing the vast potential for our products in China through a number of means including sales visits, joint trade show exhibits and translation of selected sales literature into Chinese. We are excited about our future in this market.
"As mentioned in prior news releases," continued Kacin, "the past few months have been particularly challenging. We are encouraged by our success in being selected for this project and it reinforces our belief that circumstances are improving for the release of other projects that we are pursuing."
